BIOGENTS BG-HOME the indoor mosquito trap that aims to capture the tiger mosquito in the home



The Biogents “BG-Home” mosquito trap is a high-performance, ecological and indoor trap. It aims to capture the tiger mosquito and other pest insects flying into the house.

The trap especially attracts the Asian tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) and the yellow fever mosquito (Aedes aegypti). Both species are not only annoying but can also transmit diseases such as dengue, chikungunya or Zika. These species are present in subtropical and tropical countries. Furthermore, the Asian tiger mosquito also lives in much of the Mediterranean area.

Trapping method: The combination of visual stimuli, artificially created convection currents and an artificial scent that imitates human odor allows the trap to effectively imitate humans and attract mosquitoes. The artificial human odor (BG-Homescent) is released from a bag placed inside the trap. The duration of the BG-Homescent is 1 month, after which it must be replaced.

The heated surface provides a further attractive stimulus. Finally, the black color of the trap is also a visual stimulus that attracts mosquitoes.

As they approach, they are captured with the help of a fan and sucked into the trap where they dehydrate.

A transparent window allows you to monitor the capture and indicates when the trap needs to be emptied.
